'97 Mercury Tracer fan speed stopped working after pod faceplate replacement?
I installed an aftermarket CD player and pod (necessary thanks to stupid Ford design) into my '97 Tracer. The new CD player works great, but now the swtich to select the fan speed doesn't work! The fan doesn't come on at all! The vent selector and temp. selector both still work (I can feel the air coming through the vents when driving down the road with it switched to the vent setting). What is going on? We had a real struggle wedging the aftermaket pod into the dash opening and I'm wondering if we broke the little fan speed module mounted on the back of the pod faceplate? My friend who helped me said they are very fragile, so he thinks we were too rough and broke the fan speed module. I don't even know where I could buy one of these little fan speed modules or the cost or ways to test it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Youre on the right track. Its either broken or unhooked. Check the fuse, also. If you cant find one at the auto parts store, the parts department at the dealor will be able to get you one.
