Improving PC Performance –Tips At Improving PC Performance

There are various methods when improving pc performance but first, here are the possible reasons why the PC could slow down.

Like everything else, a PC will deteriorate over a period of time. Causes could be that the hard disk may already be full, the fan is not working well, and the CPU is very dusty, the RAM in your PC may no longer be sufficient, or that the system is full with junk files.

Decrease|Avoid Multitasking - If your computer is getting a lot of errors, you may need a cleaner but in the meanwhile if you are to use the PC, minimize multitasking. Even when the PC is good, opening a lot of programs at the same time slows down the system. Closing programs that are not very necessary at the moment like games that are running, a calculator left open, and other programs that you may no longer need to perform the task will increase the speed of the processing of the PC.

Clear the Registry - The usual assumption that the registry of the PC will remain virus free for as long as reputable sites are visited is not true. The registry of the computer is the database that configures all the items for multiple users. Surfing the internet exposes the registry of the computer to a lot of viruses and spyware that it is so easy to have a corrupted registry. Corrupted registry leads to system crashes, and losing files, to prevent this a registry cleaner has to be installed. The registry cleaner detects and sweeps all the active spyware that is in your system including all the reference files that are in the registry.

There are a lot of varieties of spyware cleaners, if you must, choose one that includes sweeping all the left over traces of unwanted files so that the action is a one-time final cleaning as there are registry cleaners that do not include that. Keep a backup of the entire program. When creating a back-up, click the start menu, choose run, type regedit.exe. and then burn your REG. file into a CD.

Free your computer of junk files - Keeping the junk files will jam the computer over a period of time. Whenever files are downloaded from the internet, this leave traces of reference files that pile up in the system. All PCs today are equipped with programs like disk cleanup, error check and defragmentation tools. Using this tools on a regular basis will clear the memory from clogging up with unwanted files in the system that uses space. Before defragmenting the computer, it is very advisable to check the disk from errors first so that trouble spots are corrected.

Employ portable drives - Cramping the drive space will always be produced from downloading internet files. Programs and files in the hard disk will eventually block up the system and slowing will always result. apply USB or external devices instead. Using these devices will extend the computer's memory speeding the processing up.

Clean the computer - When the computer is presenting no signs of limited disk space but is still not working properly, the most probable cause is the accumulation of dust inside the machine that is blocking the airflow. The dusts accumulation in the electronic components of the machine is jamming up the free flow of air into the parts causing overheating. Sometimes, improving pc performance is just as simple as dusting and checking for connections that may already be loose or replacing the fan.

Is it OK to lie a tower (upright) computer on it's side?

I want to use one of my computers as a media center. Unfortunately it's a full size tower and I have limited space on my bookcase. The only way to fit it is by laying it horizontally. Will this cause any damage to the computer? Will I be able to load CD/DVDs in the tray?

it isn't advisable to do so... i had bad experience in doing so. First your cd rom will spin irregularly and it will result in a defective cd rom... Second the hard should be horrizontally placed to prevent it from overheating. the hard drive is made of cd like layers with heads in between and there is a slider on which the head moves. The head moves horizontally without any problem. When the hard disk is vertical, the head will use a lot much of energy to be able to slide up. Resulting in overheating and finally a hard disk failure.
so just take my advice, either place your CPU vertically or buy a special casing for horizontal CPU.
