Steps For Acquiring A New Mexico Drivers License
The steps to getting a drivers license in New Mexico will depend on a few things in regards to your situation. If you're under the age of 18 and getting a brand new drivers license, then you'll have to go through New Mexico's Graduated Licensing System. Those under 18 but not yet 25 must complete the None for the Road DWI awareness class at the University of New Mexico. Those over age twenty-five can just apply directly for their New Mexico license to drive – if they have no DWI convictions.
It sounds complicated, but all of this is simple.
For any license to drive in NM, the applicant must have a Social Security Card or other proof of identification number, a proof of identity (state-issued ID, certified birth certificate or equivalent), and two proofs of residency in NM (utility bills, library card, etc). One of the forms of identification, at minimum, must show date of birth.
Graduated Licensing System
If you are under 18, you will have to go through New Mexico's Graduated Licensing System (GLS). There are three levels to the system starting with an Instructional Permit. This is a “learner's permit” and allows the new driver to drive with an instructor or any qualified driver over the age of 21 (who must be in the passenger seat or behind on a motorcycle) to learn to drive. The minimum age for this permit is 15 and the student driver must use it for at least 6 months.
Once completing a driving course and passing the written examination, the student can then move on to a Provisional License. The driver with this permit may drive without supervision, except during the hours of midnight to fivea.m. (unless exempted). A driver with a PL is also not allowed to have more than one passenger in the vehicle unless another driver of at least 21 years of age is also in the vehicle. Members of the immediate family are exempted form this rule.
A guardian or parent must certify that the teenager with a PL drove at least 50 hours, ten of which were at night, and then the teenager can take a written road test and vision screening to get an Unrestricted Driver's License. The applicant must be at least sixteen years of age and have held an Instructional and Provisional drivers license for at least 12 months in total and must not have any traffic violations within 90 days of application for a full driver's license.
The None For the Road DWI Class
The None for the Road Class is required for drivers aged 18 to 24 or those over 25 with a driving while intoxicated conviction. This is administered online through the University of New Mexico and is a self-study course. The exam can be taken anywhere with an Internet connection.
Drivers Over Age 25 Without DWI
All other drivers over age twenty-five must complete a written examination, an on-road exam, and an eye exam.

Do you need an enhanced drivers license to fly domestically in the US?
Without a passport you used to be able to fly with just your license. But on the TSA website it says something about needing a REAL-ID license or an enhanced license. Do I need that yet? If so, what are the requirements for getting an enhanced drivers license?
No, you do not. A normal drivers license or state I.D. card is fine. the enhanced drivers license is just one item on the list of all different types of acceptable i.D.
