Alternative Till Rolls
Thermal till rolls are a better alternative to the traditional till roll used in most high street businesses.
The main features of these products are:
- The paper is impregnated with a chemical that changes colour when exposed to heat.
- The paper has a shiny and smooth appearance.
- A standard roll length is produced to around 3% of the lenght stated.
The technology of thermal printing allows you to lower your total cost of ownership as there will be no need to purchase ink ribbons or rollers.
Although these till rolls may be a little more expensive per unit than the traditional products they do actually save money for the businesses that use them as there is no need to purchase ink ribbons or rollers.
Like multi ply paper rolls they are available in different standards with the quality of paper ranging from budget through to A grade.
A grade paper is the most cost effective to use as the cheaper variety leaves dust and debris in the printer causing blockages and damage to the print head.
Using thermal till rolls will mean you can do away with rollers and ink ribbons. You will not have any need for them once you decide to invest in point of sale thermal till rolls. You should be aware that thermal paper does change when it is heated and, because of this, it is an ideal way to cut down on costs.
There shouldn't be any issues with using thermal till rolls as most credit card machines and cash registers are fully compatible with them.
Of course the Internet is a wonderful place to find the consumable products you require for your business and the majority of suppliers will have a website from which you can place an order.
With so may suppliers offering similar products at a similar cost it can be difficult to choose the right suppliers. It sounds obvious but the most important thing to consider when choosing a supplier is - do they actually maintain their own stock of products?
Many Internet companies don’t hold stock and only order it when an order comes in. This can lead to delivery being delayed.
And delivery times is another area that will let you sort out the reputable and efficient businesses from the also ran’s.
The better suppliers offer a free 24 hour delivery service which means the retailer never has to worry about running out of thermal till rolls or any other consumable product.
What does PLU refer to on cash registers?
does "price look up" on a cash register refer to the number of items sold?
PLU stands for price lookup , it would be a price that is cross-referenced to a number like at a take-out restaurant. Ex. PLU # 1 small drink 0.89. When the cashier enters PLU 1 the cash register rings up 0.89
